  i have had some conversations with ex-jw women and i am more than a little concerned at how, if a female, is treated in committee meetings.

  it sure seems (i experienced this when i was young) that the elders have a commonality in trying to create such shame and sexual guilt (especially where none is deserved) that it is beyond abuse.

  i know there are a lot of former elders here.

  Tech49 said it perfectly. As a elder for over 24 years I saw really good and humble men and really bad ones. Unfortunately as time went on I had to deal with the really bad elders. Some being circuit overseer and P.O. It was the older elders that was the worse because they didn't keep up with training to show kindness and concern for those who was hurting spritualy. For most new elders they were told to observe the others elders on how they did things. If you were on a body of good elders you had good examples to follow but if you were on a bad body of elders your good examples was far and between. Yes we had the so called elder book but a person needs more than one book to handle such a important responsible in caring for a congregation.

  In my last few years in the Borg there was serveral committees I was on and I basically had to counsel the other elders on how badly they was treating the accused. I even stop a committee meeting in the middle of it. Asked the accused to leave the room for a few minutes and gave the other two elders stern counsel on how to treat a person who wants help.

  For many elders I saw it was just a power thing with them while the good ones became fewer and fewer. It was one of the many things that help me wake up and leave. In my opinion the congregations are being lead by uneducated men to do the job properly. Still Totally ADD

  My heart goes out to all of you. For us born-ins and those who came in as children was subjected to a living hell. I have nothing else to say to all your experiences. Been there done that feelings. The fact is we all went through some form of religious persecution at school in various degrees. Here's what upsets me the most when we were children we had to go through it but are parent's didn't. If you was like me when telling my story to others in the Borg I was always told it will make you a better person.

  So there you go according to many in the cult abuse makes you a stronger and better person. Sick! Still Totally ADD

  It was my 5th & 6th grade teacher. I went to a country three room school for my first 6 years with two grades per room. It was one of the last hold out of old country way of life back in the 1960's in central Illinois. My first 4 years was hell because of the physical and verbal abuse I got from my teachers. They hated JW's and I was their special target. When I entered 5th grade a new man teacher started to teach there. He knew how I was treated by those teachers and he took me under his wing and help me catch back up to my grade level.

  He was a very good and kind person. He would make it a point in class when other kids would make fun of me because of my religion by telling them about the freedom we all have to practice what ever we believe. How wrong it is to hurt people who believe differently. He gave us all how to use critical thinking. For the first time in my life I was learning things I would use for the rest of my life. Great guy. Still Totally ADD

  it`s christmas eve here in australia today and i wish all of you a very merry xmas simply because i can without being zapped , or hauled into a jc committee.. it doesn`t matter whether you are religious or not , i`m not now , however i can appreciate and respect those who do.. so whatever your views on the matter have a great day and enjoy the holidays in whatever grabs your fancy.. and if jw`s do come knocking on your door as they do this festive season wish them a merry xmas and anti-witness to them ..

  i attended a concert on sunday, a featured piece having been commissioned by a composer who lives in the city but retreats to an island in the puget sound (usa) to write his music.

  Healing from my back surgery I have discovered reading. With ADD this is something I have always struggled with. But now knowing I have to hold back doing real hard physical things I seem to have a peace of mind to read. It has been very enjoyable. I have also started writing a book. It is a sarcastic and humorous look at religion with a way to help use critical thinking when it comes to beliefs in God. It has been very therapeutic for me. Still Totally ADD

  Will Artificial Intellegence Make The Human Race Extinct?

  i think it is inevitable.

  i don't worry about it but it just seems that the human race is going down a road that they can't make a turn off.. they are probing/discovering how the human mind works and produces intelligence down to the individual molecule.

  now with the invention of the super quantum computer soon we will be able to build even better artificial intelligence greater than our own, so it will be easily able to out smart us because will we be a bunch of dumb apes first discovering how to make fire in it's eyes.. it will have it's own different agendas than us humans.

  As long as the robot's/ AI don't get involved in religion they will do just fine. Lol. Sorry I had to get that out of my system. I feel the time will come where human and machine will make up the majority of humanity. It has already started. I feel some day this will be a normal part of life. It will be a challenge for flesh and blood of the future to learn how to control AI. Just my thoughts. Still Totally ADD

  Yeas it is true all 95% of us will be getting a tax cut depending on out much you make. That is the 17% of the bill that will help us. The 83% of the rest of the provisions will go to the top 1-2% of those with lots of money. The paid back for the rest of us will be most likely no insurance for children, less money for infrastructure if any at all, and many other things that keeps public health, school's, elderly care and on and on. Yes you will not see it at first for a few years but time will come when Congress will go after social security, Medicare and other safety nets that help the working poor and elderly.

  Yes billionaire's need more money than our social network. Please don't tell me about all the welfare mother's when some of the biggest corporations business modules is using nothing but welfare money/subsidies as they like to call them. That takes away from the public good. Big reason we see in many cities school's, libraries and parks struggling or closed down.

  If all corporate welfare was taken away from them the these tax cuts would be find with me. This is just another nail in the coffin to the road to becoming a 3rd world country. This I put the blame on both sides of the aisle. My belief is we are being made the fool by most of our politicians. As long as the corporations own the Congress we will never see average people get a break. Instead of putting cult label name calling on this party or that party we all need to wake up and address the real problem. That's my 2 cents worth. Still Totally ADD
